The Union government has doubled the daily quota of 5 kg “free trade” LPG cylinders for migrant workers across all states and Union Territories, according to an IANS report on Monday.
These 5 kg cylinders are specifically designed for the migrant population in urban and semi-urban areas because they can be purchased without mandatory address proof, making them more accessible for those on the move.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has increased the supply of LPG cylinders for migrant workers, moving past the previous 20% cap established on March 21. This new allocation is calculated based on the average daily distribution recorded on March 2 and 3.
